Things I Didn’t Experience During Pregnancy

2018-11-06T21:20:31+11:00

Pregnancy is different for everyone. It's even different with each child. Here are some of the common things women experience during pregnancy that I didn't encounter. Cravings Sure I had cravings. But it wasn’t a case of "I must not stop until I get this". It was more like a regular craving that would pass without having to give in. And while I don’t think it’s considered a craving, I found milk was often the only thing that would satiate my thirst. I would get up in the middle of the night and chug some milk. Being warm I did [...]

Breastfeeding Struggles, Advice, Success

2024-07-27T15:38:15+10:00

I always wanted to breastfeed. But am ashamed to admit I honestly thought those that said it was too hard or hurt too much weren’t trying hard enough. How amazing is hindsight? I now know how hard breastfeeding is. I left the hospital with cracked, bleeding and scabby nipples. When the midwife visited, she was able to leave me with a loan great pump to see if that would help. After returning the loan pump to the hospital I borrowed one from my sister in law, and it was a godsend, especially when I returned to work. Breastfeeding Advice The best [...]

Quote Monday Redesign

2018-08-29T21:27:11+10:00

I have just completed a pretty big feat. I have just completed updating all of my old Quote Monday posts. Back in November, I decided that I should be using the same layout for all of my Quote Monday posts. By then I was already up to 110, so that meant I had to re-do 110 posts. It has taken eight months, but I am proud to say it is done. It wasn't easy. There were so many steps to make it right. Quote Monday Redesign The first thing I did was go through each and every Quote Monday post and [...]

Life Lessons From a 30-Year-Old

2023-09-18T15:47:22+10:00

Last year I turned 30, and in all that time I’ve learned quite a lot. Some of it important, like how to adult and some not so important, like the words to too many songs from the 90s. Most of these life lessons I learned in my 20s, but some are quite recent, like number 15. So here are my 30 life lessons from a 30-year-old. Have an outlet to relieve your frustrations; write, exercise, meditate etc. Prioritise by working out what is important to you. Stop spending your time on things you don’t enjoy. Hate a particular chore? Outsource it. [...]

Box Cake Mix Tips

2022-06-19T14:20:23+10:00

I bought a giant tub of multi-purpose cake mix for my daughter's first birthday last year. I made about three dozen frosted cupcakes for the party. But after that, I put it at the top of my pantry and forgot about it. It's getting close to the use-by date and I feel that I need to use it up. The giant tub makes about 12 full-sized cakes or about 144 cupcakes. I should get another three cakes or three dozen cupcakes from it. There are so many simple ways to improve box cake mixes. From adding extra eggs, swapping oil [...]

The Easiest Meal Plan

2020-04-07T11:13:58+10:00

The importance of meal planning is touted on almost every money-saving blog and is a priority for many stay-at-home parents. But I generally meal plan because I like to know what to expect. You see I am horrible with surprises and not that good when it comes to a change of plans. But I think I've come up with the easiest meal plan. I only meal plan our dinners and I try my best to be flexible about it. Events pop up out of nowhere and there are nights when nobody wants to cook. Most of the items are stored in [...]

Winter Bucket List

2022-10-11T12:53:07+11:00

There isn't a lot by way of fun activities to do during the winter season, so I decided to create a winter bucket list. This list is a reminder that there is no reason to feel that you're stuck inside with nothing to do during winter. While it's tempting to rug up under a blanket on the couch during winter, there are so many great things happening at public events. But if you don't feel like braving the weather, this winter bucket list is sure to have some ideas for you. All of the items on this list are suitable [...]
