Mother Daghter Date Ideas
Lately, I’ve been enjoying some mother daughter dates in the beautiful place I live, the Peninsula. I love these little snippets of time that I get to spend with just her. And I have been making a real effort with her to just get out of the house for a few hours because TV seems to rule her life. Find out our favourite places to visit on for mother daughter dates on the Peninsula.

Although I think I’ve also been to all of these places with my husband as a whole-family outing!

Bounce out some energy

I love nothing more than reliving my childhood. So that includes playing sports and jumping on the trampoline. And tag counts as a sport in my eyes! What I would give to play a giant game of tag with my adult friends! But since that probably isn’t on the cards, trampolines are the next best thing. Gravity Zone is sure to tick the nostalgia box, while also burning off a lot of energy for kids and adults alike!

Eat your weight in strawberries

I don’t think it’s a secret anymore, but the Sunnyridge Strawberry Farm is my happy place. I love searching for the perfect strawberries. And I love the challenge when I’m told the fields are pretty bare.

Visit a plant nursery

There are so many opportunities to learn at a plant nursery. From colours to shapes to fruit and vegetables. Plus if you pick a large one you can easily spend more than an hour browsing all the products. We like to visit Diacos Nursery in Mornington and often visit Tulley’s Corner Store for a refreshment afterwards.

Messy Play

Messy play is not something that I like to do at home, but thanks to The Busy Peacock and The Messy Shed, I don’t need to worry about the cleanup! On-site at The Busy Peacock is The Hungry Peacock, a great place to grab a bite after a messy play. With an enclosed area that provides both indoor and outdoor seating as well as indoor and outdoor play for the kids.

Chocolate & icecream galore!

The Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie is quickly becoming one of our favourite places to visit. A shop full of chocolates, what’s not to love? Plus hot drinks to warm you on a cold winter’s day and ice cream galore

Be a beach bum

My favourite time of the day to go to the beach with my daughter is early morning. This is perfect on a hot day because we can go out, get some fresh air, enjoy some sunshine and be back home before the heat sets in. Getting to Mount Martha’s south beach around 9 am and we’ve both usually had enough by 10 am. And it’s a bonus to go during the week because it’s rarely busy at that time of the morning.

Take a hike (or a walk)

When my daughter was younger, I’d park my car at a spot along The Esplanade and walk along the trails with her in the pram. It’s mostly flat and there are a few little spots with a magnificent view of the bay.

To market, we go

There are some great markets on the peninsula. From the weekly Monington Main Street Market each Wednesday to the numerous Craft Markets Australia locations. Or check out the Mt Eliza Farmers’ Market for some fresh lemons to make your own lemonade.

Have you done any of these or know something else we should check out?
